I graduated from Cushing High School in Cushing, Oklahoma in 1989. I then attended East Central University in Ada, Oklahoma where I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education in 1994. In 2009, I completed my Masters of Education-Library Media from East Central University.
I am currently certified in Early Childhood (PK-3rd), Elementary Education (1st-8th) and Library Media Specialist (PK-12th)
I began teaching at Sulphur Public Schools in 1998. 2020 marks my 21st year with this district and my 25th year teaching. In August 2020, I happily moved back to PreK and am so very excited about being back to my first true love-teaching awesome 4 year olds. I look forward to the fun and exciting days in a PreK classroom. No one can keep you on your toes or make you smile and laugh like loving and inquisitive PreK kiddos.
I began my teaching career as a first grade teacher at Mill Creek. I taught 1st grade for 4 years before moving to Sulphur Elementary in 1998 to teach 2nd grade. At Sulphur Public Schools I have taught Pre K, 2nd grade and 3rd grade. I was also an OPAT Parent Educator for a three years. In 2009, I completed my Masters of Education-Library Media. I was the teacher librarian in the SES Library beginning in 2008. In 2011, I inherited the additional position of SIS Librarian as well continuing as Elementary Librarian. I made my teaching home in the library for 12 years. August 2020 begins my journey back to PreK and I am super exctied about this opportunity.
My husband Wes and I have two children who both attended and graduated from Sulphur Public Schools. Our son Dylan graduated in 2016 and our daughter Hannah gradated in 2019. Dylan graduated from Oklahoma State University in May 2020 and is now living in Tulsa where he is part of the ACT program for Bank of Oklahoma Financial Corporation. Hannah currently attends Oklahoma State University where she is persuing a degree is Communication Disorders and hopes to one day be a school Speech Pathologist. With the kids both gone, we “empty nesters” have 3 dogs, Hallie Grace, Lemi & Britt, to keep us company.
When I am not spending time in my classroom getting ready for my PreK kiddos, I enjoy reading and spending time with family. I love watching ALL football (GO POKES!). I love to travel, explore new places and experience the different cultures around the world. When I am not busy, I help Wes with our Hereford cattle at our ranch and enjoy our “pet” Longhorn steers, Larry & Mo, who pasture at our house.
