I began teaching in Sulphur in 1993. My first job in Sulphur was at the Intermediate school where I taught remedial reading and math. The next year I moved to the elementary where I taught first grade. I stayed in that position until 2012 when I took over the position of Reading Specialist. While I loved teaching first grade I have really enjoyed working with students who struggle with reading. Teaching kids to read is my passion! I have been teaching for 38 years and I hope to teach for many more.
Before coming to Sulphur I taught in several school districts. I began my teaching career in Mustang. My first year I taught 6th, 7th and 8th grade social studies. I realized quickly that wasn’t my cup of tea! The next year I moved to first grade and fell in love with my job! I taught in Mustang for 4 years. After Mustang I moved south and taught in Lone Grove, Joy and Davis. In 1988 I took a year off and went back to school to get my masters degree.
I live in Davis, Oklahoma with my husband Charles. We have been married since 2012. We have 5 kids and 9 grandkids between the two of us. We love to travel, attend our grandkids events and of course spend time with the grandkids.
When I’m not teaching or working on school work I enjoy traveling, reading, exercising, doing crafts and working in the yard. In the summer I spend a lot of time in my swimming pool. I also enjoy spending time with my three granddaughters.
