Art Teacher
I graduated from High School in Sulphur in 1990
I went on to graduate from East Central University in Ada
I received my bachelors degree at East Central University and I am certified to teach Art K-12
I have come full circle this year. This will be my first year to teach in Sulphur. Although I have lived here most of my life. I am happy to be back in the classroom where I took art from Mr. Paul Walsh. I am currently teaching high school Art I-IV along with an Introduction to Art class.
Although this is my first year to teach in Sulphur, this will be my 25th year to teach total. I have currently been teaching in Dickson for the past twenty years. Prior to teaching at Dickson I taught for four wonderful years at All Saints Catholic School in Norman.
Before Covid, I was also a regular contract artist for the Chickasaw nation. With them I help with the Chickasaw Summer Academy and I teach classes at the ARTesian art gallery in Sulphur. I hope to continue that work once the Chickasaw Nation is back in person 100%.
I have been married to Paul West for 17yrs and we have one daughter named Owen. She is currently a Junior here at Sulphur and we have two spoiled dogs named Albert (Al Pal) and Ruthie (we call her Ru, but she is named after Ruth Bader Ginsberg)
I have tons of hobbies and I love staying busy. In my free time I like being with my family and friends. I also love following my daughter to all of her school activities. In my own time I still like to do anything art, road trip, garage sales, gardening and flowers, and shop! I love silly adventures and collecting strange things. LIfe is good!
